Gondry gets Viral!
Amidst the madness
Amidst all the holiday madness, I almost forgot to mention that your dear sweet holmies have been blogged about on nylonmag.com. The link will take you to ‘According to Mr. Kim’, our friend Rickey’s new blog, where you can see photos of us Milkfaters working our butts off at Evil Monito the day of our Community Shorts event. Check it out.
‘Tis the Season
‘How Much to Go to the Trees?’ by Red Bucket Films
I know it must seem like these New York Times holiday videos are all we blog about, but it just so happens that they invited all our east coast friends this year. That being said, check out the third and final video in their curated Christmas series, ‘How Much to Go to the Trees?‘ by Red Bucket Films (Benny & Josh Safdie and Alex Kalman). We showed this video at our thing earlier this month (don’t tell the New York Times), and I’ll admit it was one of my favorites. Read the NYTimes blog about it here. It’s lookin’ like Spade’s gettin’ all the credit though…
Stay tuned for a link to their other Spade video, ‘Ice Cream Soup’ as soon as it’s online.
Merry Christmas!
Neistat Bros. Join NYTimes Holiday Video Fun
The second installment in the New York Times’ curated series of holiday shorts is by Oscar’s bosses, the Neistat Brothers. It’s called ‘Dinner Plans’ and it’s available here. Read more about it here.
If you’re not familiar w/ Casey & Van Neistat’s work, check out their website Neistat.com. My personal favorite is Goldfish.
8 New Videos!
We just added our second installment to our first season of internet videos. As always, they’re available on our YouTube page as well. We’re still figuring out how exactly this update schedule’s going to work, but we’ll keep you posted.
Thanks!
On Thursday night we hosted our first LA event. We called it ‘The Community Shorts’ and held it at the Evil Monito space in Echo Park that our friend Rickey Kim opened a few months ago. We showed 13 new videos from friends of ours here in LA and out in New York. Namely, Casey Anderson, Birthday Boy Presents (Craig Hildebrand, Dan Samiljan & Morgan Pritchard), Oscar Boyson, Russ Finkelstein, Brennan Hill, Int’l Waters (Jett Steiger, Eli Born & Will Campbell), Felipe & Josh, Patrick McKenzie, Carson Mell & Grant Falardeau, Phil Pinto, Red Bucket Films (Benny & Josh Safdie and Alex Kalman), Avi Rothman, and Rue Brutalia (Jon Pack & Jason Kalter). We had two screenings of the 45min program, and served drinks in the backyard.

The Evil Monito space is an old carnicería that’s been retrofitted w/ wood paneling and a huge glass façade. It worked well as a theater.

Sam Sundos came down and served drinks for us.

Thanks Sarah!

Last minute savior: Echo Park Film Center

It was cold outside (50-smthg degrees!), so we set up heaters.

Standing room only (in the back and on the top level) for the first screening.

Avi and our own Ashley

Wrapping things up…
Patrick McKenzie and Casey Anderson helped us plan and coordinate from the beginning. Big thanks to Sylvia, Jon, Paul, and Eugene at EM. Photos (mostly) by Elise Velasco.
More about it on Rickey’s personal ‘blog‘ or on his new feed at NylonMag.com.
See you in ‘08!
New HUGA short @ NYTimes.com
Watch Todd St. John’s new short, ‘Circle Squared‘ at the New York Times’ new T Magazine site. Of course, Phil Pinto was in the mix. More about it here.
Keep an eye on T Magazine’s exclusive films page in the coming weeks too. They’ll be posting something new from Red Bucket Films that we premiered last night.
Tomorrow!
Skull Kontrolz
Anyone know what’s going on with Skull Kontrol these days? If you have to rack your brain to remember then you have not been spending enough time reading their blog/website. As for what’s new, Sir Orduno and his crew have come up with a whole new reason to go out and party. Check out Solid Gold on the second Thursday of every month.
For those fools out there who can’t make it up to LA for our milkfat event, check out the flyer and don’t be caught with nothin to do.

OMG look what we got here!

Some of our buddies over at Red Bucket Films have been featured in Paper magazine this month. Oh yes thats right, not only are they now going to become super famous, BUT they are also showing a short of theirs at our lil ole event this Thursday. Be sure to be there or be square.
